Here you will find narrated, high quality train videos captured throughout the eastern seaboard. I use the Sony FDR AX-53 camcorder and the DJI Mavic 3 Classic to videotape trains, whether its FEC gliding through St. Augustine, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad steaming into the Nantahala Gorge or some Reading and Northern branch line action. Thanks for railfanning with me!

While perusing my old files I found this gem, CSX 6957 in it's YN2 paint scheme on the point of Orlando local A779. Certainly a great looking scheme on the EMD's, and a fading memory in 2023. Thanks for checking it out, if you'd like to see more of the Class One's YN2 EMD's check out the link at the end of this video!

February of 2023 and I was back on another railfan road trip, bound for some more action in the Keystone State. I spent my first day on the Reading and Northern, and checked two big hitters off the bucket list: a red GP30 leader and a chase along the railroad's Susquehanna Branch. I also found myself chasing NRFF later in the day, making for yet another great visit to the RBMN. Thanks for railf...

Great heritage catch and nice video
Thank you!
Very enjoyable video. Thank you.
Appreciate it!
Very friendly engineers and conductors. I wave every time I see them and they always open the window and make a commotion, have fun with the horn (in the country). Love them
The CECX1919 uses the flagship 95L.
Is that the engine type? Is it different from QSK-95?
@@FloridaRailfan same. I didn’t realize this was the same car Cummins bought for testing. I work for Cummins and on the 95L. Heck, I’m sitting in the factory that builds it as I type this.
Norfolk Southern use Cummins, like the Dodge Ram Pick-ups!
You should’ve heard 1998, the videos don’t do it justice. Sounds like a dozen Dodge’s
@@FloridaRailfan or it could sound like an entire fleet of buses. Being that I am a practicing diesel mechanic that locomotive sounds like as if every bus in the yard was idling.
Yo blud, I'mma need those exact coordinates ASAP. 😂
State Road 639 in Salem, VA looking west (south) on the Whitethorn District if I remember correctly.
Never thought I’d see a mighty SD70MAC reduced to shortline usage, and yet here we are.
An amazing sight!
16:32 That's the phase III heritage. Phase I heritage is the one with the red nose and pointless arrow. Interestingly from what I've heard that's the last 2011 heritage unit operating. Apparently the other ones crashed or something. Thankfully we have the 2021 ones now.
Didn’t know I got that mixed up, thanks for the cool info!
@@FloridaRailfan No worries
I've only railfanned Reading and Northern a couple times before (primarily the excursions) but it's a ton of fun. They've got an incredible classic railroad design for their buildings and signs and they're also very railfan friendly. They do have their limits on where you can go but they are much more lenient than any Class I railroad meaning you can get really nice shots. They have great paint schemes for their locomotives, great horns, and as far as I can tell, no e-bells (outside of the ex. NS OCS f unit) (I'm not really a fan of e-bells). I'm hoping to go up there again at some point.
Quite a friendly and iconic operation indeed!
Man if those rails could talk ……
The stories they could tell!!
Wow what a awesome Shot N&W Locomotive Train Video.
Thank you!
One of the best 611 videos out there! Awesome work.
Thank you sir, appreciate the appreciation!!
An amazing video that deserves way more views.
Glad you liked it man, appreciate the kind words!
Nice video! If you ever are back in Florida, please check out the Florida Gulf and Atlantic railroad again! They’ve heavily improved and developed since the last time you were here! 😊
Thank you! FGAR is towards the top of my list once I return, gotta love those M-2's!!
@ 2:23 did you get yelled at? Awesome colors a a great video! I love this format!
Ha, no if I remember correctly there was a homeless guy causing a riot behind me. Appreciate it!
Republic Locomotive has been building locomotives for over 20 years with Cummins motors. They're currently using the QSX-15 so the KLW 1998 is neither the first, nor the only Cummins locomotive in existence.
Correct, and Amtrak Chargers use Cummins engines as well. KLWX1998 is the only SD90AC-QSK in existence.
@@FloridaRailfan I also want to mention that the Brookville BL20GHs on Metro North which are now BL20GHMs have been rebuilt and had their original engines swapped out and replaced with a Cummins QSK50.
This shortline has some considerably large power
Awesome sight. Just a side note, at 16:52, the "M" in MLW stands for Montreal, not Milwaukee. The M420W was a pure MLW product of the 1970's (Alco had already bitten the dust at this point), but in its heart, beats a classic turbocharged 12-251C. The BC-Rail-style K5H horn playing the classic Canadian chord is an added bonus.
Thank you, I noticed that after the video was uploaded and cannot believe myself. Crazy how many times that silly brain-fart snuck under my nose!!!
Very nice video and thanks for sharing. Dave
Nice catch!🚂🚂
What in the world is a deadline?
It’s a string of locomotives / rolling stock that is no longer useable, often times either used as parts sources or awaiting scrap :)
Well, I should have known this earlier. Although, thank you very much for telling me this.
Outstanding video! Enjoyed the videography and narration and especially the dronage over the Lehigh Gorge. I happen to have ridden all those tracks on passenger excursions and share your enthusiasm for the scenery. As a local, I must note that the preferred pronounciation for the river is Sus-kwe-hanna, not the Sus-ke-hanna you used.
I’m glad my enthusiasm is commonplace, really is a beautiful area. Thanks for the pronunciation tip as well, and I appreciate the kind words!
Can’t. Imagine a portion of the usa population actually votes for a evil man as president who wishes to do away with all transportation , semis, trains, plans, cars , ships, farm equipment, hospital diesel backup generators, cause he wants ‘’ to be a big shot’’ . SMH
Fantastic video and great catch. I have fond memories of the west coast sub as a child going to rainbow river in the summer and watching the endless trains rolling by.
Appreciate the kind words. It’s an awesome line for sure!
i love finding newer videos about this railroad, its my favorite short line RR since i live really close to it
It was certainly a fun one to chase, glad you enjoyed and appreciate your comment!
Man that cummins sounds good, just about as good as the cat powered locos
The audio doesn't even do it justice!
Outstanding video and thanks for sharing. Dave
Thank you!
Nice I just subscribed your channel I hope you can return it back! I plan on going to florida to railfan and visit family in september in Ocala FL, Do you know of any good spots I saw some tracks on the google maps and showed florida central short line locomotives do you know how often they run, I was told the CSX S line goes through there.
It sucks to see the Susquehanna division in such poor condition, I hope they can get it fixed soon.
Allegheny Commons is on the North Side of Pittsburgh
3:20. That dear almost ate it.
Fun fact, the (initial) lead locomotive of WLE train 643, #6353, is one of the SD40s that played the role of AWVR 1206 in the movie Unstoppable (2010). The other unit is WLE #6354. Both 6353 and 6354 are still sporting the extra cab side windows they were given for the 360° panning shots used throughout the movie.
That is super cool!! The extra windows definitely caught my eye, crazy that’s what they’re for. Thanks for the info!
Cool video bud! You did well on the Wheeling, we definitely share love for that piece of railroad because I try hitting it every time I’m out there! Well done!
Appreciate it! Feel like it’s one of those RR’s where you’ll never see the same thing twice, definitely interested in returning to find out
@@FloridaRailfan oh for sure, I’ve waited in Avella a few times for 218, one time I waited an hour and a half, one time I waited four hours, one time they came in before sunrise and didn’t know it. Very gratifying when it works out though, lol.
@@trainutjob as with any chase, the unknown is half the fun!
My video on the Rook Sub took about 4 years to produce. It took a lot of trial and error just because of the terrain. Sometimes you'd see a train once and never catch it because at track speed they can get miles ahead of you.
All part of the fun!!
Caroad Express needs to man up and get a actual bell on that SD60.
The crazy horn made up for it
@@FloridaRailfan good old conrail S3 😁
Nice video!
Thanks!
Your welcome @@FloridaRailfan!
Yet another place to dream about visiting.
I see 218 quite often I’ll have to check that one spot to see if you left your scanner there
That would be GREAT, still haven't gotten a new one....Would be quite funny if you found it
Ha, that deer at about 3:22 had a death wish.
I thought I was about to witness something I didn't want to...
I actually work at USS ET and get to see the URR switch the plant pretty much daily! If you consult others’ videos it’s neat to see their slab trains go up and down the ramps onto the bridges that carry them over the Mon River to nearby Irvin works. ET also has an in-plant railroad (mainly SW1500s) that shove raw materials onto the Blast Furnace Trestle and also pulls and shoves Pig iron bottle cars to the BOP for conversion into steel.
I was on the lookout for the URR, but didn't have enough time to thoroughly check it out - will be on the list for my next visit though. Do you guys get deliveries directly from BLE as well, or does URR bring their trains in for you?
@@FloridaRailfan URR always brings down BLE / CN loads from North Bessemer, about ~10 miles away. En route between the mill and the yard is URR’s Hall shops as well, which you can get close to by road. I wouldn’t be sure of North Bessemer’s timetables and whatnot, but as I lived nearby in Penn Hills for over a decade I could hear BLE trains in and out of that yard a couple times a day, normally, with evening trains reliably arriving ~6-7pm.
Appreciate the information. Will keep note of it for my next visit!
Awesome Video! As a Current Pennsylvanian Myself Born and raised, I am Proud to say that this State has Many amazing Railroad Opportunities! Raging from Class 1s, Class 2s, Class 3s, And even Tucked in Generic Tourist lines! Your content is always a way to showcase that, Many good RRs here! Thanks for visiting the Keystone state man, Happy to have you!
Really appreciate the kind words, you're not wrong about your home state. There is a reason I've visited PA twice now, it is likely the best state for railfanning I've been to thus far. Take full advantage of it!
@@FloridaRailfan I will, Thanks for the Comment!
bruh you lost the scanner?
I have some tips in case you come back. A good chase spot on the Conemaugh line is Harmar Township to Creighton. There's also a big bridge for Canadian National.
I’d always love to come back, will take note. Thank you for the help!!
